Filter condition varies by listing. Some machines come with a new or recently replaced filter — this is noted on the product page where it applies. Others include the original filter, which may still have useful life remaining depending on the machine's history.

Check the individual listing before buying. When you set the machine up, the filter life indicator — on the display or in the MyDyson app — will tell you where you stand. Replacement filters are available from Dyson and are straightforward to fit. If you're planning to run the machine heavily, or want certainty from day one, it's worth budgeting for a replacement.

The tower models are designed for medium to large rooms — typically up to around 800 sq ft, depending on the model and room layout. The DP04 desk unit is better suited to smaller spaces, around 400–500 sq ft.

That covers most US bedrooms and open-plan living areas comfortably. For very large spaces or high ceilings, place a tower model centrally and run it on a higher setting to increase air cycling.
